Meet the Teachers

We have three Sunday School classrooms for children in 1st-6th grade.  Currently, we use Scripture Press curriculum in our Sunday School rooms.  This semester, the 1st-4th graders are learning about God's creation of the world, human beings' loss of paradise, and God's plan for redemption of human beings and history.  The 5th- 6th graders are studying the history of Israel under the monarchy and the divided kingdom.

During the Worship hour, we offer His Beacons, a class for children ages 4 through 4th grade.  This course offers a custom curriculum that examines the Four Purposes we hold as a church:  Worshiping, Growing, Loving, and Serving as outlined by Pastor Schill at the start of LCCC's existence.  It incorporates a unique presentation of biblical principles with social interaction and hands-on activities.

1st - 2nd Grade

Mrs. McGregor takes the 1st-2nd graders.  She is an experienced Sunday School teacher as well as a devout servant and Christ-follower.  During the week, Mrs. McGregor is president and co-owner of a local firm, but on the weekend she uses her considerable talents and enthusiasm to serve at LCCC.  Mrs. McGregor has been married for over 20 years.  She and her husband help lead a life group and serve in our outreach ministries.

 3rd - 4th Grade

Jeni Ward teaches 3rd-4th grade.  Jeni is married to Lance and has three children, whom she homeschools.  She enjoys teaching and is eager to be part of the Children's Ministry at LCCC, where she employs her teaching abilities in helping 3rd-4th graders learn about God and His Word.  We are blessed to have Jeni teaching with us.

5th - 6th Grade

Cindy Johnson covers 5th-6th grade.  Cindy is also an experienced teacher and mother of three.  She is married to Allen Johnson, one of our elders, and is actively involved in serving in the church and with one of our outreach ministries.  Cindy brings tremendous enthusiasm and experience to her classroom.

Here's Cindy in her own words:  "The reason I teach:   I teach because it is my passion.  I feel this is where God has gifted me.  I so enjoy seeing children light up with a new piece of knowledge and it is very exciting to see them begin to implement into their lives the  truths that we have discussed.  Children are definitely a blessing and working with them is a tremendous joy!"

/files/LCC/LCC Images/Children's Ministry/DSC00084.JPGJennifer Griffith teaches the worship hour class, His Beacons.  This class includes children ages 4 to grade 4.  Jennifer has her Ph.D. in English and is also a mother of 2.  She is married to Dr. Byron Griffith, who regularly assists with the class.  She is also assisted by other regular volunteers with an interest in teaching children.  The His Beacons class aims to provide children with an opportunity to develop a loving community of peers and thereby 1) to create life-long, positive associations with the local church and 2) to have the opportunity to practice being a successful part of the Body of Christ.  With the weekly lessons, we aim to encourage children to grow in their knowledge of God and their understanding of what it means to serve Him.  This fall and spring, we are exploring our four purposes as a church as outlined by Pastor Schill (see the Sermon library):  worshiping, growing, loving, and sharing
