Advent Services

Advent means "coming" or "arrival." It is the beginning of the Church calendar and anticipates both the first coming of Christ - as a baby at Bethlehem, as well as the 2nd coming of Christ that we eagerly wait for. If Jesus came the first time, we have confidence He will come again!

11-29-09 HOPE. "Where is Hope?" 1 Corinthians 15:1-19. Guest speaker Howard Joslin brings a moving message of hope in the midst of great loss. What is hope? Where do we find hope - real hope - as believers?
Audio
12-6-09 PEACE.  "The Lord is my Shepherd." Well... once again Malcolm McGregor had to cancel at the last minute - but we are thankful for the excellent arrangement he made to have King David fill in our pulpit. This great man who began as a shepherd boy, and grew into a man of warfare, teaches us about finding true peace. Guest speaker: King David Audio
12-13-09 JOY. "Joy is a Sad and Broken World." Joy is the most perplexing of Advent topics. I mean if things are going well - joy, joy, joy!! But when things break down, when difficulty arrives, how does joy fit into those situations? Speaker: Pastor Craig Schill
Audio
12-20-09 LOVE. "The Best of the Best." Often God's love is associated with Jesus' death on the cross, but what about his life? Jesus spent a good deal of time teaching us about love and its application. That is one of the reasons why He came! Speaker: Pastor Craig Schill Audio

12-2-07 HOPE. "The Highway of Hope" As you travel through life, are you on the Highway of Hope or the Tollway of Despair? Consider how Jesus has brought HOPE into the world!
  Audio  / Manuscript
12-9-07 PEACE.  "Prince of Peace" Isaiah called the future Messiah, "The Prince of Peace," and his arrival in Bethlehem included the angelic statement: "peace on earth!" But, then Jesus said that he did not come to bring peace but a sword. What did he mean? What type of peace are we talking about? Guest Preacher: Martin Jones. Audio
12-16-07 JOY. "A Shepherd's Story" If one of the shepherds who was tending their sheep on the night of Jesus' birth came to our church to speak, what would he say? That is what happened this week at LCCC... Guest Preacher: Authentic 1st Century Shepherd (Malcolm McGregor's substitute)   Audio
12-23-07 LOVE. "Gift Giving - God's Style!" Giving gifts in our culture is BIG business - Strong Christmas spending is a key economic indicator. But God gave us the greatest gift of all. Will you accept His gift?   Audio / Manuscript

  Audio
12-7-08 PEACE "True Peace" Ephesians 2:13-18. There is much talk about "peace" in our world - but what is it? What is false peace, and what is true peace? The answer is found in Jesus Christ. Speaker: Tim Martin.
 Audio
12-14-08 JOY. "He Saw it and was Glad" John 8:56. The story of Abraham and Isaac may seem an odd text for the topic of joy - but it is within this dramatic story that we have a taste of what is to come - the halting of death by Jesus Christ. Speaker: Father Abraham (in place of Malcolm McGregor)
  Audio
12-21-08 LOVE. "Traveling Love" Sometimes God packs his bags (so the speak) and travels. He came to earth on Christmas. He went to Jerusalem and the cross, and one day He will return. Why does God travel? Love!
